Already one of Ambergris Caye’s more anticipated annual events, the International Costa Maya Festival promises to go bigger than ever this summer in Belize. Set for August 2nd through to August 5th, this multicultural event highlights beauty, diverse backgrounds, culture, music, and food in a whole-some three-day celebration. Here are a few quick facts to brush up on your Costa Maya history; The Costa Maya International Festival actually had its origin as The San Pedro International Sea and Air Festival. This year will be the 27th edition since its inception in 1991 The festival was the brainchild of a few San Pedranos along with members of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, particularly Bruce and Victoria Collins. All eight Mundo Maya countries including; Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama participate. ‘Lobsta fi dayz’ – Festivals not miss in 2018!

Three of the most popular gastronomical summer events in Belize kicks off when the official lobster season opens in June – the San Pedro, Caye Caulker and Placencia Lobsterfests!  Organizers claim there will be big lobster and even bigger fun so save the dates for a triple dose of ‘lobsta fi dayz”; June 15 to 23rd (San Pedro, Ambergris Caye); June 22nd to 24th (Placencia) and culminates on June 29th to July 1st in Caye Caulker. ‘El Gran Carnaval’ de San Pedro – An Island Tradition

February might be known as the month for romance, but travelers to Ambergris Caye will quickly find that El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro takes precedence over any other event on the island (even the lovey-mushy stuff).
