Ten years ago, Minelia started her hospitality career as a pool server for Rico’s Bar and Grill at the Villas at Banyan Bay. A decade later, ‘Minny’ as affectionately known by her peers and patrons, is one of our longest serving member of staff and very much a popular personality in the hospitality industry. Today, Minny holds the position of Restaurant Supervisor, overseeing all the operations of the restaurant and acts as a guide and mentor to her team. We sat down with this passionate soul and learned a bit more on what makes her tick; here are her answers so you can get to know her better.
Q: How many years have you been a part of this team?
A: “I started as a pool and beach server in September 2008 and since then I have worked my way up the culinary ladder from server, to assistant supervisor to now Supervisor of an 11 member team.”
Q: How do you keep motivated daily?
A: “When you love what you do, you enjoy every day of it. I really have a passion for this field and while it can be challenging at times, it is also a very rewarding career.”
Q: What is your most favorite part about working here?
A: “The ability to provide my wonderful guests with an unmatched and unparalleled dining experience. Interacting with families and getting to know each of my clients and sharing our passion for food with them.”
Q: Do you have a favorite dish at Pier 366?
A: “When my guests ask for recommendations on food, I always tell them to try the seafood options especially the stone crab and chef’s pasta.”
Q: Would you recommend Pier 366 and why?
A: “The experience you get here is impeccable and top-notch. We have the beautiful views, a diverse menu and mostly importantly the prices are very reasonable.”
Minny hails from Corozal District in Northern Belize. Along with her capable staff, Minny continues to look after hundreds of patrons and guests who stay with us and strives to serve meals that guests will remember long after the dishes have been cleared.
