When
you take an adventure tour to the rivers, jungles, and Maya
ruins of Belize you may be lucky enough to do it with Daniel
Nunez and his exceptional, first class guides, all hand picked
and trained by him. Daniel was honored last year with a prestigious
Ecological Award presented to him in Switzerland in 2003 honoring
his excellence in environmental knowledge and concern for
the Belizean wildlife that allows him to make a living. We
at Banyan Bay salute Daniel for his enthusiasm with our groups
and whether you are cave tubing down a river in Belize, searching
out manatee in the Belize River, spotting a jaibaru along
the Northern Highway, making monkey sounds at the Belize Zoo
or simply playing with the dolphins on the boat ride back
from the jungle while sipping on his famous rum punch at sunset,
his trips are not to be missed!
Altun Ha Mayan Ruin |
Altun Ha is the most extensively excavated ruin in Belize and is located 31 miles north of Belize City. This site was a major ceremonial center during the Classic Period, as well as a vital trade center that linked the Caribbean shores with other Maya centers in the interior. The ruin consists of two main plazas with some thirteen temple and residential structures.
The "Jade Head", representing the Sun God, Kinich Ahau, is the most significant find. At approximately six inches high and weighing over nine pounds, it's still to this day the largest carved jade object in the whole Maya area.

TIKAL Guatemala |
Tikal
is the ultimate ruin trip in Central America. This is
truly a massive Mayan ruin which really exemplifies
how vast and complex this ancient civilization was.
Not only will you find the ruins incredibly beautiful
and fascinating but your guide will educate you on the
vegetation of this rich rain forest environment. Tucked
deep in the Guatemalan jungle, Tikal is magical with
exotic birds, howler and spider monkeys in its canopies
and a maze of archaeological wonders. You fly from San
Pedro Ambergris Caye to Belize City and then to Flores,
Guatemala in the morning and returning in the evening
sunset. It is about a one hour flight from Belize
City to Flores. For our guests that have the time,
we would strongly recommend an over night trip that
allows you to explore the quaint little town of Flores
