We’ll share with you this little secret. Belize is more than just diving and snorkeling, Belize is a tourist destination with a difference, it offers so much more. You can sign up for a river tour, go cave tubing, hit a jungle trail or visit a few of our many Maya ruins.
Our guides are highly trained and take personal pride to ensure your trip is a first class experience. Their knowledge will inspire your adventurous spirit as you trek through the lush rainforest and maybe spot a Jabiru stork or Tapir (locally known as mountain cow) or even take pictures of Howler monkeys as they cross your path swinging from branch to branch overhead.
Altun Ha Mayan Ruin
Altun Ha is the most extensively excavated ruin in Belize and is located 31 miles north of Belize City. This site was a major ceremonial center during the Classic Period, as well as a vital trade center that linked the Caribbean shores with other Maya centers in the interior. The ruin consists of two main plazas with some thirteen temple and residential structures.
The "Jade Head", representing the Sun God, Kinich Ahau, is the most significant find. At approximately six inches high and weighing over nine pounds, it’s still to this day the largest carved jade object in the whole Maya area.
