And as the premier beach resort celebrates its second decade serving the Belizean hospitality industry and its island’s visitors, honor is being bestowed upon Reservations Manager, Alirio Franco who has been working at the resort since its inception in 1997.
Franco who hails from Valley of Peace in Belmopan moved to the island over two decades ago in search for employment and stability. His first gig at The Villas at Banyan Bay, as formerly known, was cleaning windows, but his perseverance and unwavering dedication quickly catapulted him to the Front Desk department. Soon after, Franco held a desk in reservations, where he remains today as Manager in that department. Franco’s enthusiasm and passion can be seen and felt year round, as he makes Banyan Bay Suites a home away from home for the guests by providing ultimate, unforgettable vacation experiences. Franco’s personal traits, interpersonal skills, attitude, commitment and work performance are key reasons why repeat visitors and first time guests book their vacations with our resort every year.
When asked what fuels and motivates him at work, his modest response was, “Tourism is service oriented, I love meeting people and my job offers that opportunity on a daily basis. Banyan Bay also has a great staff, we have become almost a family,” end quote. One may think that his position requires him hidden behind the scenes but this certainly is not the case with Franco. His customer service focus and genuine personality shines with each reservation. Resort Manager, Lee Espejo commented, “Franco is the type of employee any company can build off of, his knowledge of the tourism industry goes beyond room reservations. I can plug Franco in any department and not have to worry about him being lost. Mr. Franco is well known and respected amongst Travel Agents / Wholesalers, which makes for a very trustworthy relationship. The name is not only known by colleagues but is one of the first that guest ask for when arriving at Banyan Bay.”
When asked what is makes his job most rewarding and worthwhile, Franco’s response is, “My job entails selling the destination and offering help from start of vacation to end, helping our guests to make their vacation as smooth as possible is rewarding.”

Franco expressed that his greatest achievement in his tenure with Banyan Bay to date, has been the establishment of the resort as ‘a favorite island vacation destination on Ambergris Caye.’
