In the late fifties and early sixties Belize was known to only a select few who came down to test these great turquoise waters for Bone, Tarpon and Permit fish. There were only a few small, primitive fishing lodges at that time and some of those same professional fishing guides still take these fishermen out today! You choose the time and let us know if you wish to try a fly rod or spinning reel and we can book just the perfect fishing expedition for you. Our guides with experience of over 30 years can take you to their secret spots on the flats or pole you through the mangroves for the sport fish of your choice. Belize is no longer a secret so come and join us for this unique experience!

Reef Fishing, Live Bait Trolling and Bottom Fishing

For real fun fishing expeditions, you and your family can enjoy a wide variety of bottom fishing and trolling with your professional guide making it as easy and as fun as possible.

You pick your schedule, name the type of fish you want to catch, and your guide will take care of the rest. After picking you up at our Banyan Bay dock your guide will impress you with his skills in net throwing as he stalks sardines for your live bait. He will then take you to his favorite spots at your comfort level for a morning or day of Snapper, Grouper or Jack fishing. He baits your hook for you, casts out your line and gets the fish off the hook for you. He will even filet your catch for you at the end of the trip and you can have our chef cook it “your way” at Rico’s Restaurant or you can cook it back in your condo.

Deep Sea Fishing/Bill Fish, Wahoo, Dorado, Tuna, Kingfish, Sharks

Deep Sea Fishing in Belize is still in its infancy and with the price of gasoline here in Belize it is a fairly expensive excursion. You may be able to find some people to share the costs for this unexplored adventure. The big fish are here but we are still learning the territories.

“Captain Pete” is one of the most experienced in the field and enters the Belize Bill Fish Tournament every year with great success.

We suggest you take this one with a degree of caution and discuss with the guide carefully your chances of success! It could truly be an exciting adventure!

Night Fishing/Tarpon, Cubera Snappers, Jacks, Barracuda and Sharks!

If you don’t think you got enough fishing in the daytime we also offer a sunset night fishing expedition form 5:00 pm returning to the dock at 9:00pm. Our experienced guides will show you their favorite night time spots to find just the kind of fish you are looking for. This is a great fun for the kids as well.

Picnic Trip/Fishing and Snorkeling

This is definitely a great family or group outing where your guide will take you all day to some marvelous snorkeling sites, possibly catch some lobsters (when in season) catch some fish along the way, and then barbecue your catch on the beach.

This is a favorite among Banyan Bay family guest and is truly a fun day for all!

Things to bring for Fishing Expeditions

For the experienced fisherman we are sure that you will be bringing your favorite rod and special flies with you. We certainly encourage that as well as your favorite spinning rods as well.

Our guides can provide just about any type of rod, tackle and reel you might be needing for any of your excursions. Make sure that you bring plenty of protective clothing to cover your skin from sun exposure. Most of our boats have canopy tops but it is always advisable to have light weight long pants and long sleeve shirts for protection. Medical “scrubs” are great for this purpose or a light pair of long sleeve cotton pajamas always come in handy. Of course you need plenty of sunscreen. Going out early in the day is always a good thing as well!
