Last week, personnel from the Belize Red Cross San Pedro Branch (BRCSP) facilitated a two-day CPR training and basic first aid workshop for members of the hotel industry. The objective was to ensure workplace health and safety. “if all employees become more safety aware, it will help with the number of accidents that would require immediate action to be taken, so we are literally equipping them to save lives,” expressed a Red Cross volunteer. Trainees now know exactly what’s in their first aid kits, how to use the contents, and the various ways to react in an emergency. In a beneficial way, it makes each trainee an unofficial health and safety risk manager. While the training also helped in improving employee morale, trainees conceded that having positive attitudes leads to positive results and that happiness and wellbeing of your employees will help you build a strong relationship; ultimately resulting in a better working environment. The Belize Red Cross San Pedro Branch’s mission, is to build the capacity of Ambergris Caye by holding First Aid courses monthly and quarterly blood drives. The sessions were held at the Banyan Bay Suites conference hall and included the participation of employees from Banyan Bay, Pier 366, and Grand Colony Island […]
