The first edition of Alaia Foundation’s Half Marathon & 10K Run/Walk held last Saturday, April 6th 2019, was an overwhelming success with a record number of runners taking on both distances. Runners participating in the event hailed from all across the country of Belize and as far as Michigan, Canada, West Virginia and California. Director of amenities and Board member for the Alaia Foundation, Seferino Paz, spoke on the success of the days races; “We are delighted with how the event went and couldn’t deliver this event without the support of the local community, the San Pedro Town Council and many volunteers, stakeholders, suppliers and sponsors who help us to organize this year’s event. We plan to hold the half marathon and 10K run annually to maintain awareness on the importance of health and wellness on the island and also throughout Belize,” end quote.

Organizers say that plans are already underway for next year’s event which promises to be a much anticipated community event.
